A celebration for all sailors, everywhere

ENTER THE REGATTA

An opportunity for sailors across NSW to enjoy friendly sporting competition on the world’s most beautiful waterways. It is a typically informal Australian way to acknowledge a key moment in the nation’s heritage.

It is a day for all Australians.

It’s about celebration…

Australia Day is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate what being Australian means to them. For sailors, it is getting out on the water - be it on Sydney Harbours or any of the myriad of sailing clubs up and down the East Coast of NSW. The regatta is open to every type of vessel from ocean racers and classic gaff-riggers to radio-controlled yachts and historic skiffs. No yacht is too large or small to enjoy this wonderful day afloat.

 .

And recognition..

Because it is also day to recognise and remember that for tens of thousands of years, Indigenous Australians have been aware of the symbiotic relationship between our country and the water that surrounds it. First Nations people from the saltwater clans have long had totemic relationships with, and responsibilities for, the sea and the different sea creatures within.

“The regatta is an event for people of all ages and abilities - anyone from any walk of life can get involved.”
