Join Us On The Water

A sport where anyone from any walk of life can get involved..

The Australia Day Regatta continues to be a significant part of the celebration of our national day. First held in 1837, the Regatta is the oldest continuously-run annual sailing event in the world

During this remarkable unbroken record the regatta has survived two great economic depressions, two devastating epidemics and two World Wars. The desire among sailing folk to mark the anniversary of this nation’s founding is apparently unshakeable.

Why has the regatta continued in such robust good health while so many other traditional celebrations have declined into irrelevance? We believe it is because it offers a unique combination of attractions.

It is an opportunity to enjoy friendly sporting competition on the world’s most beautiful waterways. It is a typically informal Australian way to acknowledge a key moment in the nation’s heritage. But most importantly, the event has always been free of any political influence. It is a day for all Australians.

We would be delighted if you could join us for the 188th Australia Day Regatta on Friday, 26 January, 2024.

The regatta has a wide range of individual events from ocean racers and classic gaff-riggers to radio-controlled yachts and historic skiffs. More than 20 participating clubs across NSW will offer racing in an appealing variety of craft. No yacht is too large or small to enjoy this wonderful day afloat
